story of mills and mill workers of mumbai

Till some extend I feel that this mill workers who are fighting for the apartments from government deserves to get free homes here as we all know this people were the one who actually are here from last 100s of years the relationship of mills and Bombay city which was later replaced as Mumbai is as older as this city itself in the olden era while arrival of David Sassoon, jasheadji jajaboy, The godrej family and later the other famous people who made their lives and were richest people from this mills. Sassoons were the largest mill owners of India they had more than 23 mills all over India majority all in India those days in each mill they used to have more than 15,000 to 20,000 workers in each mills those days profit was also earned a lot and to be frank this people have themselves contributed a lot building various important buildings, monuments, hospitals, Donations and making various charitable trust which as we all can see which still exist in Mumbai.

Those days the workers in the mills were the most happiest people they had the working as per what they require their salary was decided according to the number of members in the family with them with this they were also given monthly Rations for them which was given on behalf of the mill with this they had a facility like free passes of trams to travel, workers were having homes and many of the mill workers buildings still exist and with this it helped a lot to the huge number of people who migtated settled in Bombay and getting jobs and apartment to live was something very easy and in most of the families of Mumbai we all have some or another who worked in mills or in government jobs of those days my late grandfather he worked in the East India company Taxal department and our family is personally aware how those golden days used to be and is told to be my them of that era .

In the change of time mostly after the independence of our country the real tragedy of mills and the mills workers started this mills for many were in big loss due to the change in the countrys economy and working standuard the businessmens of the country suffered a lot and in this the mills workers with their workers unions started making strikes and this strikes used to continue for many months none of them used to think what will happen of our mill of our owners who are in big loss even if mill is shut down for few hours in working day in this the union of workers kept on fighting by strikes and the time came when most of the mills were in big loss atlast all the mills shut down closed their mills for ever and till today after more than 30 years still many of the mills are in same condition they are closed many big mills still their cases are pending the high court a fight between the owners and the workers and in many others mills today in that land there are private companies, mills are replaced as malls or private apartments are build here. The most important thing in this past 30 years even if this mill workers are not getting their salary after they officially closed and also gave everything what the workers usually get like graduaity amount and all but this workers are still having the mill apartments with them from the time when they are living here and till today even after the mills are shutdown they are living in this apartment without paying anything or any tax of this building and even after getting such a wonderful kind of gifts from mills to them still they don’t have their own apartments and are fighting for free apartments.

Actually saying I am not against this people as they were the one who participated in this development of Mumbai from the independence era, struggle for the Bombay in Maharastra and other important programmes of here and they have right and are officially the first citizens of Mumbai but its not that they are the only whom the rights should be but it does not mean that they are the only one here today Mumbai itself has 20 millions and all in their own way struggled and contributed and as being the citizen of here they all have rights so now whom should and for how many will government actually give justice in this our Mumbai is a very small city and if you see there are people who arrived in this 10 or 20 years which is less than the time of mill workers existence in Mumbai now they have their own homes and are happy.

The fact of life from worlds oldest religions

Jews throughout the ages have willingly given up their lives, rather than abandon being Jewish. Why? Because until you know what you are willing to die for, you have not yet begun to live.

Over the past 2,000 years in the Diaspora, Jews have had many opportunities to display their courage to stand up for Jewish beliefs. Consider Natan Sharansky - a prisoner of conscience who willingly underwent years of psychological and physical torture for the sake of being Jewish.

The pages of Jewish history are filled with thousands of Sharanskys. Whether during the Inquisition, the Crusades, the pogroms, or the myriad other persecutions and expulsions - Jews have given their lives for Judaism.

To the Western ear, “sacrificing your life for a belief” sounds like a far-too drastic action! Is there logic and reason to what our ancestors did? And where did they find the strength to lay down their lives rather than accept another religion?

RABBI AKIVA AND THE SHEMA

One of Judaism’s most inspiring legends is Rabbi Akiva.Even though he only began to learn the Aleph-Bet at age 40, he applied himself with such determination that he became the greatest sage of Talmudic times.

During the first century, the Romans tried to obliterate Judaism and passed a laws prohibiting Torah study. In defience, Rabbi Akiva gathered together his disciples and taught them Torah.

The Romans arrested Rabbi Akiva and executed him by brutally tearing the skin off his body with iron forks.

As he was being tortured, Rabbi Akiva joyously recited the Shema - “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One.”

His students exclaimed: “Rabbi, not only do we give our lives for the sake of God, but we do so in ecstasy?!”
Replied Rabbi Akiva: “All my life, I strove for the level of dedication to sanctify God’s name with my very life. Now that I have the opportunity, I joyously perform it!”

Was Rabbi Akiva superhuman? How could this “opportunity” give him so much pleasure that it completely obscured the agony of death?

KNOW YOUR PLEASURES

A fundamental of Judaism is that there is nothing a human being can do for God. God has no needs. Yet at the same time He gives us everything - air, water, food, sun. And He gave us the Torah as instructions for deriving maximum pleasure from this world.

In the Shema, the Jewish pledge of allegiance, we are commanded to love God B’chol Nafshecha - “with all your soul.” You have to be willing to sacrifice your life rather than deny God.

If mitzvot are for our pleasure ... how does this give us pleasure?!

This is the pleasure of clarity and commitment. If you can perceive something as so important that you will sacrifice your own life for it, then your life has weight and purpose and direction. Because until you know what you are willing to die for, you have not yet begun to live.

Material pleasures are necessary and nice, though they do not compare to the higher pleasures of love and meaning. Imagine you’re offered 10 million dollars in exchange for one of your children. After rejecting the offer, you’d be overwhelmed with the precious value of that child! You may have always known his worth on an intellectual level, but now it becomes real to you.

Similarly, once you have found a cause so meaningful that you would forfeit your life for, when you indeed live for that cause, it is with unparalleled power and pleasure.

This is the secret of Jewish heroism. This is why so many Jews throughout history have sacrificed their lives for what they believe. Because dying for God is a higher pleasure… than living without Him.

Same important teachings found in zorastrianism again one of the oldest religions in the world having most of ther traditions and teachings same like jews

"Struggle for good against Evil With Humata (good thoughts), Hukta (good words) and Havarshta (good deeds). Thus spoke Zoroaster, the great prophet of Iran to his followers who in India are known by the name of Pasis. "There is but one path, the path of ASHA. All other paths are false paths" - YASNA This quotation from Yasna sums up the teachings of Prophet Zoroaster. Asha is a path of action - good thoughts, good words and good deeds - with emphasis on service to the suffering humanity. Every living being according to this religion is believed to posses the eternal principle of FRAVASHI. Zoroastrian is monotheistic in its higher ideology having AHURA MAZDA as its Supreme Deity and AHRIMAN as a lesser power of evil, which continually retards the smooth progress of good-universe is conceived as a battlefield between Ahura Mazda and Ahriman. In this confrontation, Ahura Mazda will ultimately defeat Ahriman. In the Zoroastrian religion, the theory of Re-incarnation does not exist FIRE is looked upon as a visible symbol of godhead and it is believed that the Sacred Fire was brought to earth from heaven by the prophet himself. In Zoroastrian temples that are known as Fire temples, fire is kept burning all the time. These temples are tended by Priests called Jozdalhregavs. Over 3000 years ago Shah Jamshed of the Peshadian dynasty ascended the throne on "NAVROZE" - nav meaning new and roze meaning day. It was the day of the Equinox - a day when light and darkness stand equal on the scale of space and time when the length of the day equals that of the night. That particular day came to be known as Jamshed Navroz and is celebrated even in modern times with lot of feasting. This new day is the beginning of a new year, a new awakening into an inner sphere of spiritual consciousness and anew vision of life. It is the time of questioning of looking within oneself, of seeing the millions of miracles that take place within the vast universe. Navroz means spring when Mother Nature casts off everything that is old or super-flows and dresses herself like a young bride in every vibrant colour and hue, rejoicing in her own pure spiritual beauty. Thus Navroz is a new dawn in everyone's life. Parsis believe that there are six seasons in a year with an important festival in each of them. These festivals are known by the name of GAHAMBARS. These were originally agricultural festivals but as Zorastrianism developed, they assumed religious significance. Parsis celebrate Khordad Sal as the birth of their Prophet Zorastor who was born in theiddle of second millennium B.C. His birth anniversary falls on the 6th day of the first month of the Zoroastrian Calendar and is observed with rejoicings. In each of these festivals Parsis do a lot of charity to the needy. To extend a helping hand to the poor is special characteristic of the Parsis.

Love to Love

LOVE

Probably the only word which has so many interpretations, definitions, yet there is still no universally apt one. The dictionary says it’s “a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection” or “a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.” What exactly is this feeling or attraction?

Every Cinderella longs to find her Prince Charming and live happily ever after. We all want to fall in love. Why? Because that experience makes us feel completely alive. Our emotions get magnified, senses get heightened, and we are flying in seventh heaven. It may only last a moment, an hour, a day, but that doesn’t diminish its value….

It’s so funny how we have absolutely no control over this one feeling. You think you are in love, but then are you? How do you prove it? Does love at 1st sight exist? Can you be in love a second time? maybe a 3rd, 4th? For that matter are you sure it is love and not lust or infatuation??

Have you ever been sweeped off your feet by a man/woman standing next to you in a queue? Is it merely infatuation, a strong shot of chemistry, or budding love – the real thing? Is Cupid playing a prank or bringing you true love forever? Could it be estrogen and testosterone hormones that addict us to our lovers?

I always thought ‘Love at first sight’ is not believable. Love takes time. Lust, on the other hand, at first sight sounds much more accurate. Since time immemorial we are hearing that ‘love is blind’. But that’s a mistake; real love is not blind. Quite the opposite, it is a relationship in full awareness. Over time, through good communication and wisdom, you can start knowing your partner. Gradually, you become aware of his/her flaws and try to work your differences in a healthy way. Lust, on the other hand, could be perceived as being “blind” as it usually distorts reality, especially when you’re so involved that you don’t care to find out the real persona of your partner.

But then again, there’s no hard and fast rule, that love should take its time and it’s not blind and all that. Infact, there’re no set defining characteristics of love.

Eitherway, love or lust, what exactly goes through the mind and heart of the person feeling the sudden burst of emotions for this special someone is what I wonder.

All your life you guard yourself. Build all the defenses and armors, pretend to be strong. Then one day some stupid person no different from any other stupid person enters your stupid life.

They didn’t ask for it. You invited the person in. They must have just smiled, said a hi or maybe only gave you a glance.. but for you, Life changes!

It takes you hostage within yourself. You can’t think of anything else. You start to fantasize. The few minutes that caused all this is replayed a million times in your mind. You want more. So you add scenes to those 5 minutes everytime you replay.

You don’t just give them a piece of you. You give them the whole you. Your thoughts, your heart, your mind.

Years later also it’s not forgotten, its right there in one corner of your heart. It’s getting nurtured, without you even knowing it exists. Or else, why does your heart pound everytime you hear their name.

You let them in, but can you take them out? I don’t think so…try it!

It turns you inside out. And if they reciprocate, how do you know they are not teasing you? How do you know it’s not lust for them, but true love for you?? You want to give yourself to him/her, but then your scared of what is the truth, you are cautious to not get your finger burnt, you probably build the walls higher… but then the need to be loved back by him/her will make you just forget all your inhibitions and enjoy the moment. And then when you are deep into the relation, what if the other person says the ever famous words “let’s take a break” or “I need some space” or even worse “let’s be friends”. Oh believe you me, it’s more painful than a glass splinter piercing your heart a million times, to hear that line.

It hurts. Badly! It really gets inside you and rips you apart, leaving you in a state where death would be considered heaven!

That’s it!, we think. No more relations, no more guys, no LOVE. But then probably a day later, month or even a year, your heart pounds and beats much faster when you see a guy at a party and you feel that you’ve never felt that way for anyone before. So what was it before then?? Love or Infatuation?

I guess we humans fear being in love, but still want to be in it. Always. Because, there’s no better feeling in this world than that of love.

The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread. ~Mother Teresa

Who, being loved, is poor? ~Oscar Wilde

12 Reasons Why Jerusalem Must Remain United Forever Under Israeli Control

1. Jerusalem has been the capital city of the Jewish people (but no one else) for 3,000 years, including both ancient Israel and current Israel. There were caliphates based in Medina, Damascus, Baghdad, and Cairo--never in Jerusalem.

2. Jews lived in Jerusalem for 1,700 years before the Arab conquests in the Seventh century. 3. Jerusalem is mentioned 641 times in the bible and 0 times in the Koran.

4. Jewish legal rights to Jerusalem (and even all of Judea/Samaria) were "irrevocably" recognized in the San Remo conference of 1920 by unanimous agreement of the 51 members of the League of Nations. Moreover, for the past 150 years, Jews have been the majority population in Jerusalem.

5. Jews were ethnically cleansed from eastern Jerusalem when they were attacked by 5 Arab armies in 1948.

6. Without Israeli security control that exists today, Jerusalem would descend into chaos, with rival militias battling each other like in the Gaza Strip. This would make life intolerable to residents and tourists alike. In 1949, 25% of Jerusalem Jews fled when exposed to random sniper fire from the Arab Legion.

7. Unified Israeli control of Jerusalem is crucial for the IDF, as it requires a secure route during wartime to move soldiers/equipment to the eastern border, along Jordan River.

8. Israeli Arab residents in Eastern Jerusalem enjoy social security and health insurance benefits valued at about $10,000 per annum. Removing such benefits and moving this population over to a tyrannical regime (PA or Hamas) is both unethical and immoral. It also violates the wishes of the majority of Arabs in eastern Jerusalem

9. If Israel were to irrationally allow the establishment of a Palestinian Arab state, the PA would not protect the Christian population or religious sites, as witnessed by the PA's persecution of Christian Arabs in Bethlehem. The Jewish sites would also not be protected, as seen in Joseph's tomb in Nablus (Shechem) and the synagogue in Jericho. Between 1948-1967, fifty nine Jewish religious sites were destroyed by the occupying Jordanians.

10. PA control over eastern Jerusalem would create a "magnet" for Sunni terror organizations (Muslim Brotherhood/Al Qaeda/Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Shiite or Shiite-funded terror organizations (Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas) to undermine and then take over, as in Lebanon, Gaza, and now Egypt. In fact, Jerusalem would become the focus of the rivalry by these two worldwide terror organizations. Hamas is now formally a partner for the second time of Fatah in the PA. Hamas actually hosted al-Qaeda groups in Gaza since 2006.

11. The increased hostilities, guaranteed to be created by the inevitable war, would lead to unnecessary tensions worldwide between Jews, Muslims, and Christians.

12. The division of Jerusalem is not in the interests of Israel, US, EU, PA, or local Arab residents. It is only in the interests of Iran, thereby aiding its goal of world domination.

note from hell

1 May 2011..... It wasn’t the usual Monday morning blues. Osama had just checked into Jannat of his dreams(JOHD) with his entourage. Pity he had to leave his begum behind. She was far from expiry date and used to make such nice kebabs. But what the hell... he will now get not one, but an entire harem of women. Not bad eh?

A few hours back, when he was unceremoniously dumped in the sea, there was a moment of confusion and chaos. 3 coy sharks, 2 crazed bottlenose dolphins trying to act fresh and a dozen dead Somali pirates ....why were they crowding the sea! Enroute to jannat, he met a man in an orange robe and a strange Afro hairstyle. He was trying to drop ash on him and even offered him a gold watch. Bin Laden had to decline politely – the last thing he needed was a watch to time his err... performance. He had 72 dark eyed, nubile things waiting for him and he was waiting for them - oh yeah!

He was expecting more; after all he was the big daddy of Jihadis. 150 perhaps! But in the spirit of camaraderie, he was magnanimous enough leave a few for his Jihadi brothers as well.
His last Earthy abode, Abbottabad was not a bad place to live in. It was far better than the caves of Afganistan and it came fully loaded with post retirement benefits. Cool mansion, cooler neighbours (all of them ex army) and a plush job – Director Subterfuge at the Pakistani Military Academy. He was after all a world renowned expert in ratting it out in caves. And with Islamabad just a stone throw’s away, he could order his favourite Mutton Korma Pizza from Dominos anytime. Last week was heaven – it was the buy one get one week. Burp....

His only galti se mistake - he loaded FB on his mobile. Boy! was he hooked. A hitherto unknown world opened up for him – he would spend hours saving lost kitties on Farmville, stay up all night playing Mafia Wars. He even met an interesting woman online – damn was she hot! But she beat him black and blue in Scrabble. How he wished he had paid more attention to English in school. Sadly he thought it was a language of the infidels, but in today’s world, to survive you have to know English! How else do you order a Pizza on the phone?

Zawahiri marked for convinience
His bhai jaan thinks it was his last status message “Chilling out at Abbottabadthat did them in. Sigh...even Osama is not safe in Pakistan. But he knows his bloody legacy is in the safe hands of his second in command Aiman-Al –Zawahiri. Too bad the chappie’s forehead has a bulls- eye marked for convenience. Might as well walk around wearing a Tee that reads Shoot me!

He wondered how many were chanting Tere Bin Laden in his memory. Osama will always be a martyr that nobody will forget in haste. Those treacherous Pakistanis ratting out on him and now acting coy – he couldn’t wait to haunt them as a bhoot. Look at the Indians, such nice people. They keep making movies on him. He just read that they are making another one – Shootout at Abbottabad, in his dear departed memory.

Osama’s mobile beeps - yes even jannat is well connected. There’s a new message waiting for him besides the Satanic Services Welcomes you to hell, roaming charges apply. This one is a thank-you-for-dying note from Obama. He raises his eyebrows quizzically.

As bin Laden walks is the reception, he curls up his nose in disgust. The decor is too loud for his taste, the music jarring and it’s too hot for comfort. It almost feels like hell. He will have to speak to maintenance. With a rakish smile he walks up to the receptionist and asks – This is Osama, I believe there’s a consignment waiting for me – the 72 virgins. The girl gives a panicked look, picks up the phone and talks in an agitated tone - Emergency, there has been premature delivery at the incorrect address and he is making weird requests. Isn’t this bloke supposed to be clean shaven, American and delivered to heaven! Osama grits his teeth and in a low menacing tone he says –This isOsama bin laden, not Obama......google me lady! The girl sighs in relief and gives him a sheepish smile. Err sir I am afraid we are a bit out of stock now. Your buddy Saddam reached much earlier than you did and charmed the waiting virgins! And the remaining, were taken by Achmed the cute terrorist. All he had to say was “I’ll keeeel you” and the girls would swoon in ecstasy. But I believe we do have a few mature ones remaining for you. Like wine they got better with age just for your sake.

One look at them and Osama starts sobbing – all these years of hardship for this!! Even the Somali Pirates were better looking than them.

Suddenly the PA system comes to life “Welcome to hell, hope you have a pleasurable stay”. He goes back to the reception and barks “I believe there has been a mistake, I should have been in jannat and not hell”!! The girl smiles back - Sir your membership to Jannat expired long ago and you have been downgraded to hell! He stomps out mumbling “I’ll keeeel you” and furiously keys in his latest tweet.....Happy as hell with mah six dozen virgins. He wouldn’t want to disappoint his Earthly Jihadis, would he.

monsoon which is soemthing which all love from their heart

As we all are now in the end week for the month of may the hot summer is some what more but also the same time it is also realised that very soon we are going to enter the monsoon season and already known in many of the places specially in last week and even today morning the few drops of rainwater and the clouds in the sky are seen that means very soon we are going to have heavy rainfall and as it is officially we are entering the monsoon season
usually till the last year there was rain first week of may due to that reason there was big loss in the agriculture specially thee was heavy loss for mangoes which got wasted but this year it is different and completing the proper period of summer now we will be in monsoon era for 2011.
Personely saying i just love monsoon season the time when rain starts there is a special smell which one experiences only during the monsoon and the first rain the way it spreads all over from every corner it is like even that portion is wellcoming that rainfall to come and fulfill our thirt and every one of us some or another way using the exquse of not using umbreallas or windshitter enjoys that rainwater and that is something all of us just love doing it
yes its true sometimes rain water is just flooded every where the roads are blocked then traffic problems and also there is more dirt but simply the best expereince ever
i still remember when i was in school specially when i was in 1st standuard those days specially while comming back home from school while comming back home from the JJ Hospital which is one of the largest hospitals all over asea and very big space those days while monsoon it used to be full flooded with rainwater and water used to come till my chest i still remember and that used to be such a wonderful moment we all used to pass from there so nisely without any fear because that time there was no drainage(gatar) nor anything used to be kept open there most of all with our school guys and gurls that moment i still remember and that enjoyment is most important memory which i will remember every monsoon

This season is also something which is said to be good time or subh muharat to start something new thats the reason the schools, colleges, univercity reopens during this season where all due to monsoon best feeling are so excited to start their new work and all are having some natural willingness may be this monsoon itself brings for us also most of the marrages, family events and special programmes even if not that every one at their homes enjoy normal tea party with their family or friends with some monsoon romantic songs and enjoy themself
There is really no words for me to express this great god gift called monsoon to all of us which is just full of happiness and now guys get ready because if you have not thaught of this wonderful season before now it is time to realise it and make yours life with more wonderful memories

how much proudly are we following the rules?

I personnaly belive that our Indian people or Indian origins are one of the best people in this whole world. I am not saying because i myself an Indian but the fact and the results which i have with me. when ever there is some counting or test

taken it is being known that indians are most intelligent, understand feelings and when ever they work anywhere they except that place as their own home and cair for its futher in the recent study made by the oxford univercity it was known that any where in the world indians are the one who go beyond their given work and brings the actual conclution but others just do whatever the work tey are given and in most of the places in the world organs

iations prefer indians or will choose indian brands even the khandi products are making very well profit specially in american and european countries as per the khadi commission report for 2008, same way here in india as we can see lots of scope for carreer, the best education if offered by the schools and univercities. The Nalanda and Dhirubhai international schools are some of the best educational institutions available here. The same way best colonies for the people to stay which are called as American colanies are are also having NRIs staying here some of them are Rahejas and others making best places for us same way the new apportunities for higher life style like various malls, enjoying meal in best resturents like Mc Donalds, Pizza Huts and other, we have the best car roaming in the streets todays best air conditioned buses and trains are of international standuard level and now in comming time we are going to have mono rails and are going to have life like full american standuard

But there is one thing which have not yet being changed that is how many of us still obey the rules, my special focus is on rules made by our country. It is my personnel expereince not only in Mumbai,Delhi,Ahmedabad,Cochin but many other places i guess people dont want to obay the rules take an example of the streets the people dont want to walk on footpath do not obay the traffic rules even the people with their vehicles does the same, still there are so many people while travelling from government buses and trains do not purchase tickets, still there are child marrages, dowry and other malpractices are still followed, no body cairs and throw the waste on the street it self i have seen many of the roads having brandmark of their tobacco pan which people spits openly there are many more things which no one cairs and belive it is their right and are free to do it

This is something which have been like fashion from the time of indipendence it is said that in british era rules were very stricts and the one who breaks the rules were hitted badly there itself and we all read it in our indian independence but from that time later may be government have always been so busy with their own problems and in this what happend was even the government employees started breaking the rules like not on time in work, corruptions and not doing proper work and this made to be even the ministers and the whole government to be like this today actually saying no one is much following the rules infact even if we all personnaly check we will find we are not able to follow everything

Today most of the people who try to follow the rules people make fun of them but it is the time now we need to improve firstly we all need to know this is our country and if we are not proud of our own country we will not be sucessful any where as it is our motherland bharat mata when one realises this we could realise why to observe this rules someitmes i persoonly feels americans are more great than us because see the way how they love their country and then we know how they respect the rules and everything of there and then we have to do it there and only then we will be able to speak proudly about our country i feel this is something very important while the time we are making our country a developed nation
